Happy new year, Svemir Zeko

He wrote this to me on my birthday: “Happy New Year.” Same to you, Svemir Zeko, and don’t throw yourself away.

Today celebrates my old friend whose name means “Master of the World.”

In Il giardino dei tarocchi, “The World”, by Niki de Saint Phalle. This one and featured photo a © signature mmm production.

And his surname translates as “Bunny rabbit”.

The image above (taken off the line) needs an explanation. There is an old Sarajevo song, “Bacila je sve niz rijeku” (She threw everything down the river). Obviously someone misheard the lyrics as “Bacila je svemir zeku” (She threw the space bunny).  For some reason I find this hilarious. So now he is Svemir Zeko to me.

He took all these images below on two occasions when he visited us here. (He also took my avatar photo of bestia and me, and I never even credit him, bad bad bad!) Going through them again I could feel how much I’ve been missing him. Take it away, Zeko.

And here is that old song, originally by the band Indexi, here in the version of Macedonian singer Toše Proeski, sadly deceased, who I know he likes.

Live long and prosper, Zeko, and don’t throw anything in space or in the river, especially not yourself. (This reminds me of the film Singles that takes place in Seattle in the 90’s, which Slovenian film distributors for some reason translated as “Don’t throw yourself away”.)

Hvala ti, hvala ti, hvala ti in na zdravje!
