Thursday Doors, July 28

On Saturday I went to Orbetello and the doors were on my scent as usual. Or I on theirs?

Everything I do turns into a doorscursion. But only sometimes I fall in love.

Stone arched doorways. Wooden doors. Iron work. Wow – you weren’t leaving anything to chance today. I love those old doors on the sides of the three-door entrance. I wonder if they are being refinished or restored? In any case, I think they are beautiful

    1. Thanks, Dan! You mean the 5-door entrance? One of which I have in close-up? They look very peculiar, don’t they, as if they are in the middle of a process. But I think this is it…

Yes, it does look like it’s a work in progress but they’re beautiful.

  2. I agree with your final choice. There is a personality there that almost requires you to step in and see what happens next. I also like the door under what I think is a promenade?

Doors. entrances to new things. I like thinking about what each one of these doors might be promising.

    1. Yeah, Claudia. In a way it was like finding my own door, you know? No wonder that they say we always only fall in love with ourselves. 😀 Opposite this door there is a lovely art gallery/shop. I entered. The owner/artist in residence looked confused and embarrassed because of the mess. I had a fleeting thought: I’d like to work here. Help him out, to actually sell something. Of course – there was no notice that he might require help or was willing to pay for it. Help from an enthusiastic, well-meaning but perfectly unqualified person. Ah well… it was only a thought.

      1. I have had those same thoughts. That I’d be perfect for the job. The job that I just created in my mind, for me, at this place, that doesn’t know it needs me! Or so I think. It is a really nice thought pattern, this one, isn’t it?!

      2. It is. I had a job once where I could work in an office with my first bestia next to me. If the artist is up to that, I have no objections. 😀

      3. That sounds great. My choice would be a place that has a resident cat. I would so like that.

  3. I can see why you fell in love with that last one, but the others are beautiful, too, and so sturdy. What fun exploring with you!

  4. My goodness, Manja, that last door would stop anyone in their tracks. So interesting. Does someone live there or is it part of a shop/business?

    1. I couldn’t tell, Jean. But I wasn’t very inquisitive, just admiring. The feeling was as if someone lives there.

I’m blown away yet again this week by your wonderful selection. #5 with the iron bars over the windows, then right after it #224, and then…just wonderful 🙂

    Gorgeous!
Are the circles worse than pane windows? I had some French doors with 30+ panes in each door and OMG, those were AWFUL to clean!

    1. Oh Joey, thank you! I wouldn’t know which is worse, but that door never looked clean.

Very hard to clean things are not my friend. Tsk.
Those circles are pretty though, just like the French doors.

Leave it to you to always have such an interesting and unusual selection of doors. Every week you seem to outdo yourself.
