This is my first post for the Monday Window challenge. After all, windows are to doors what eyes are to mouth.
A quotation to celebrate this occasion and 99 years since he was born, lest we forget:
They tried to get me to hate white people, but someone would always come along & spoil it.
—Thelonious Monk
Last Monday I was already tempted to join when I posted a whole lot of windows from Volterra. I can’t promise to be a regular, and especially I can’t, don’t and won’t promise to post just one window every Monday. Very obedient, I know.
The photos are all from a single day in Piran, Slovenia, this summer. A bit more info in the captions.
Okay, 11 window photos it shall be today.Piran is a window mecca. There is a pedestrian passage beneath these.A whole new world going on in there.I’ve got a folder called ‘Laundry’. This beastie escaped. They are trying to do the same. This beastie is a has-been, I’m afraid. Truly. It doesn’t move.As is this window. Not only our house was painted this summer: this house used to be dark red, and then somebody figured out what its original colour must have been. And lo – no more red Venetian House in Piran’s Tartini Square. This appeals to the card-player in me.And this is why proofreading matters: This must be the only misspelled street sign in the world. It’s bilingual, as is the entire Slovenian coast: Slovenian part is correct, but in the Italian there is an ‘o’ instead of the ‘i’ in the surname of the lady after which this street is named.
Hihi, thanks, Dan. I think I was trying very hard for two weeks but now I’ve succumbed. They just go too well with the doors. Next are stairs and arches. 🙂
I have been resisting the urge to jump into this challenge with windows from my world. Your post with all its wonderful windows and shutters (!) are exactly what makes windows so great.
I love the one with the blue shutters and cat in the window 🙂
Thanks, Joanne, Piran is truly great window-wise. The cat, however, did not seem to be alive, rather forever frozen in its longing stare towards the pigeon.
Hihi, SMSW, I thought so too when I first saw this challenge. When I saw it for the third time, I reconsidered. As for Slovenia – who is going? Only my parents are about to return… I’ll have to wait till New Year’s Eve.
Mexi, I l just love colorful windows! These were special! My favorite is the laundry window!

Glad to hear it, Travel Lady! If this is so, you’d love Piran – but everybody does, except those who wish a thrilling nightlife. 😀

I thought you were 2 km away??

Oh, 2 km away from the sea. 🙂 Not Adriatic, but any sea is good in my book.

Oh, yes, any sea is good in my opinion, too!
