Various doors from Monteverde, the part of Roma that hosts me on a regular basis.
Let me introduce you to the community. It’s closest to New York that I’ve ever seen, and I haven’t even seen that. Very much lived in, various ethnicities, restaurants, small shops, bakery – the city as it once was, before shopping malls took over. With an occasional robbery, burning car, fly-by of green parrots, inquisitive seagull in the middle of the road, alarms, shouting – things like that. An Italian city. All photos in this post were taken this Sunday. Right down to the last fun batch with Aristocani, possibly a favourite.
Here are some of the doors that I observe on a monthly basis. I’ve posted the first one already but this is a better photo.
The ones below (not really doors and yet they do open!) I can only observe on Sundays when the shops are closed. And they always make me smile.

The artwork on those roller doors made me smile too 🙂 This looks like a lovely neighbourhood. Not sure about the “occasional burning car” though…

Oh jeez, that looks pretty severe! Would be interesting (but also unfortunate, I suppose) to see one actually burning away

There were at least three of them in this state, in the middle of blocks of residential buildings. I don’t like fire from so close up at all, I prefer not to have experienced it. Once I passed a car burning on the highway near Roma, there was nobody around. Eeeeery.

I love the art on the roll-up doors, a great way to make them more interesting. Of course the rest of the doors are lovely and I like the shot you took through the gate.

Hehhe. Mighty kind. Beautiful is in the eye, I’m certain of that. And it also depends to where I turn my camera. I tested it on my messy apartment but even that looked kinda nice! 😀

Some of your photos remind me of when we lived in Spain, Manja, especially the apartment blocks. I love the artwork on those roller doors, fabulous.

A great collection of photos, MMM. I really liked the 2nd and 3rd photo of that corner building. The photos seem to have a different ‘texture’ to them. I like! 🙂

Oh, Cady, I didn’t find any with number 8! Do you mean the 8th from top, with the banana leaf? There is a reflection of the street in it. It’s a door to an apartment building.
