Various doors from Monteverde, the part of Roma that hosts me on a regular basis.
Let me introduce you to the community. It’s closest to New York that I’ve ever seen, and I haven’t even seen that. Very much lived in, various ethnicities, restaurants, small shops, bakery – the city as it once was, before shopping malls took over. With an occasional robbery, burning car, fly-by of green parrots, inquisitive seagull in the middle of the road, alarms, shouting – things like that. An Italian city. All photos in this post were taken this Sunday. Right down to the last fun batch with Aristocani, possibly a favourite.
Here are some of the doors that I observe on a monthly basis. I’ve posted the first one already but this is a better photo.
The ones below (not really doors and yet they do open!) I can only observe on Sundays when the shops are closed. And they always make me smile.

The artwork on those roller doors made me smile too 🙂 This looks like a lovely neighbourhood. Not sure about the “occasional burning car” though…

Thanks, Pistachios. Well, one time I saw the aftermath, several burnt cars.

Oh jeez, that looks pretty severe! Would be interesting (but also unfortunate, I suppose) to see one actually burning away

There were at least three of them in this state, in the middle of blocks of residential buildings. I don’t like fire from so close up at all, I prefer not to have experienced it. Once I passed a car burning on the highway near Roma, there was nobody around. Eeeeery.

The whole thing just seems so bizarre to me. I had no idea this was something that just happens

I love the art on the roll-up doors, a great way to make them more interesting. Of course the rest of the doors are lovely and I like the shot you took through the gate.

Great descriptions in your opening.
I love the one taken through the metal screen 🙂
It’s nice the roll downs provide some art on Sundays, I think that’s marvelous.

Thanks, Joey. I constantly have a feeling that out of all neighbourhoods in the world, all the potential, parallel worlds, I walked into this one. What were the odds?

I don’t Manja, but I don’t believe in coincidences 🙂
Besides, I can’t tell if you only go to beautiful places or if you only photograph them beautifully!

Hehhe. Mighty kind. Beautiful is in the eye, I’m certain of that. And it also depends to where I turn my camera. I tested it on my messy apartment but even that looked kinda nice! 😀

LOL Well yeah, we all like our own messes 😛

Some don’t! They go to all kinds of therapists to change their patterns and messes. 🙂 OR THEY CLEAN! 😉

Okay, okay, I clean, I can’t abide a mess, BUT, when I’m in my mess, making it, I’m always pleased 🙂

Nice collection. I especially like the artwork on those roll-up garage doors.
Are you sure this was from an Italian city? All these street scenes and I only see one Vespa 😉

Thanks, Norm! Oh, they are the winners, the vespas, no mistake there. 🙂 Not a huge fan myself.

Some of your photos remind me of when we lived in Spain, Manja, especially the apartment blocks. I love the artwork on those roller doors, fabulous.

Thank you, Jean! I haven’t been to Spain but judging from some photos I’ve seen, much is truly similar. Also, this comment of yours went to spam for some reason, but I’ve rescued it. 🙂 Sometimes I’m really glad I look in there.

Janet said my comment on her blog went to spam too. It must have been something I said, lol 🙂 Thanks for rescuing me, Manja. I must check my own spam folder in case someone I know is trapped in there. 🙂

You found a treasure! The art on the roll up doors is tastefully done, and love the doors you captured. It all exudes people taking care of and loving their dwellings:)

A great collection of photos, MMM. I really liked the 2nd and 3rd photo of that corner building. The photos seem to have a different ‘texture’ to them. I like! 🙂

Thank you, Joanne! Mom said that these do not count because they are balconies. 😀

Manja, I liked Door 8! Was that a door to get to another street?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh, Cady, I didn’t find any with number 8! Do you mean the 8th from top, with the banana leaf? There is a reflection of the street in it. It’s a door to an apartment building.

Yes that’s the one! I couldn’t tell if it was a reflection or what but I liked it!
