Today is not so much about doors as specimens but more about a town, its streets, arches and apertures.
Orbetello is about 15 minutes away, so it has been featured before, also doorwise, but there is something about it that makes me happy. I think it’s its colours. None of the photos below were taken in winter though.
The featured door that proclaims “Resta sveglio”, “Stay alert”, was discovered along the walkway around the lagoon. Most of the rest were captured on the Corso, the main shopping street where I strolled yesterday wondering if people really pay 150 EUR for a belt, what multicoloured party glass markers say about our society, and why I didn’t bring my camera. It had been raining, that’s why.
And then I made these cookies. Their irregular, flat shape – even though they were supposed to be balls – didn’t inspire me to take photos, but they are yum. Thank you, Francesca, for another great recipe! (This cake was my first.)
But now some Thursday doors and other kinds of holes.

Great pictures as always! Stai sveglio is definitely a good advice for people. Especially during this historical time.

Thank you, Sara! I didn’t even know the advice was there all along, I only saw it today… Have an excellent festive time!

Although not a door, the lime green gate with the ‘conversing’ dogs might be my fav of your collection, Manja! And in the last door photo, did anyone else notice your initials hidden in the woodwork? Beautiful and sunny doors this week.

Wow, Denny, not even I have noticed the initials, well spotted! And yes, the dogs always win. 🙂 Thank you so much and keep it sunny!

I was totally set with the arches, until that last photo. I am a sucker for beautiful wooden doors, and those are some wonderful doors!

Thanks, Dan. Did you see? There are Ms on that last door! I didn’t even see them, Denny found them. 🙂

My favorite shots are those through the arches but, like Dan, I really like those last doors, too. But colors are what stole my heart.

Arches, leading stone stairs, gates, lovely balconies, and windows, colors, potted plants, the canine conversation are all great! Love that last set of doors too.

Thank you, Deborah. 🙂 Italy is great in delivering all these.

The different arches were nice, and the last door is a real beauty but my vote this week goes for the shot with the socializing puppies 🙂
Happy Holidays!

Thanks, Joey. 🙂 I try to guess in advance which dogs he’ll greet enthusiastically and at which he’ll bark viciously, and don’t always succeed. He is a bit exaggeratedly protective and “prepotente” at times.

Love the arch with the bike and the front of the white regal looking building, as well as the church door:) Lots to see here! Staying in the USA or going to your parents for Christmas? Fortunately our son came from Holland to spend Christmas time here, and making our rounds to the two girls with families. Have a very special and merry one!

Thanks, Jesh. Did you mean to say ‘staying in Italy’? 🙂 Christmas in Rome and then going to Slovenia to spend New Year’s Eve with my parents again. Wishing you a lovely time!

Those doors are lovely Manja, but my favourite photo is the one of the dogs. 🙂

Thank you, Jean. I knew I shouldn’t have posted dogs if I wished people to notice doors. 😉 (Nah, it’s right this way.)

Thanks for taking us along on your neighborhood tour, Manja. Nice sights and it would be great to compose some shots there; I liked the ivy covered building but 3 dogs nosing around is hard to beat.
