WPC: Graceful staircase

The Ljubljana “Skyscraper” staircase was the most graceful thing I’ve photographed recently.

But first the last week on my blog. There were:

• Italian ambience in Ljubljana, Slovenia;
• two quotes on trees and some scenes from a favourite garden featuring bestia;
• January 16th will always be the birthday of my two friends, and this year MLK Day as well;
• the second part of sister’s Asia travel photos featuring impressive temples and Buddhas;
• the first visit to magnificently restored Slovenian village Šmartno – we’ll be back;
• Thursday saw some rather creepy night doors from Trastevere in Roma;
• and yesterday we gazed in the Ljubljanica river and its banks to see whether it’s time that passes or us.

And now let’s have a look at a couple of art déco staircases inside the “Nebotičnik”, or Skyscraper, built in 1933 and for 60 years the tallest building in Slovenia. Here it is in an old photo I found online (just because I didn’t take a photo of it myself for some reason):

The next time we will take a look from its terrace, but today just the staircase (well, there are two).

The first thing you see, by the elevators. Karst marble.

The first look up. Immediate wow. But we took one of the elevators. The other one was out of order.

The second staircase from the restaurant to the terrace bar and VIP lounge.

This is where we should take the elevator to return down, but we saw an open door. I think it was only open because of the malfunction. Usually the use of the second staircase to walk down is for residents only.

But so we went from this…
