Piran at dusk

I had a hunch about that dusk… Shall we call it pre-planning?

Today I found a set of photography pointers that I didn’t hate. No, hate is too strong a word, I usually just skip them and think – maybe, one day, when I start to pay attention to how other people do it. I feel similar about instructions on how to write.

But these are not cocky at all and equipped with such a photo that you can say just – yep… all there. Here is Bruno and his magic tricks. And I’ll see to it that there is something in the forefront of my images and that my light diagram (pardon, histogram) doesn’t touch either the left or the right wall (did you know about that?).

Just maybe not quite yet. 😉

These were taken in the summer (ADD-IT: what am I talking about? It was between last Christmas and New Year’s Eve!) by my faithful “see and click” approach (“point and shoot” sounds too military). Either you think about it, or you don’t think at all and let your glance take you where it wants to.

Writing goes the same way. But if one is to write a lengthy piece, I guess some pre-planning is in order, just so you don’t throw away hours of writing and bursts of imagination. Jury still out. Meanwhile, I’ll keep clicking.

I have a feeling that clicking on the first photo to open the gallery improves the viewing experience.

Many years ago had a week’s holiday in Porec. I loved the area. It was before digital cameras so don’t think I have any pictures.

    1. Hehe, yes, no matter how weird it sounds, there indeed were such times once. This just means that you need to come back. 🙂

    1. Thank you, RayNot. Piran is about 15 km from Croatian border. Slovenia is just above Croatia and has 40 km of Adriatic coast.

      2. It’s so little and you always missed it. 😀 Oh, maybe you were but didn’t realise it! It happens! But it’s great that you’ve seen these parts. I love Croatian coast with all the islands. That colour of the sea I haven’t seen anywhere else.

In my experience writing is sometimes point and click and other times laborious! Lovely pictures, as usual. Early morning is my favorite time.

    1. Thank you, Jan. It’s just that dusk means before sunset, right?

    1. Yes, I’d say so, because it’s the prettiest. 🙂 Portorož / Portorose has more hotels though.

  12. Ha, interesting! I feel the same way about writing instructions, but not photography tips: I’ve never touched the former but eat the latter like M&Ms. No idea why, because it seems to me that they have roughly the same portions of art and technique. Anyway, great pictures, it seems your “see and click” civilian method intuitively follows Bruno’s pointers 🙂 – Verne

    1. Thanks, Verne. I tend to do everything intuitively. It takes longer (because I still fight it too much despite good results) but it gets me just where I need to be. I did maths at school in the same way. 😀 I figure that my stuff will never quite cut it, but it will be an authentic, quirky and possibly pleasing mess.

      1. Don’t underrate intuition! I remember this street artist sketching a basketball player. He started by the tip of a toe and worked his way upwards. At the end he had a perfectly proportioned and detailed drawing.

      2. With the basketball player playing ball throughout? 😮 Well done!
