Today I’ll let the doors speak for themselves. But if you’re there you hear better.
This is Metelkova City in Ljubljana, Slovenia, a proof what people might do if we’d let them.
I won’t pretend I know about shooting street art, it was also a late January afternoon, not the best time to do it. I’m just grateful they allow photographs, unlike (much bigger) Christiania in Copenhagen.

The first photo shows street art taken to a whole new level! I’m glad to highlighted that door in the final photo again. I love what they’ve done with all the picture frames.

Thank you, Joanne. There is much more there to see and show, but today I had to stick to doors. 🙂

Lots of monsters and aliens on these walls. So they can’t escape. 😀

Wow! That’s certainly a lot of street art, Manja. I think the first (and last) door is my favourite.

Wow ! It’s hard to find the door in some of these. What happened to the red former prison? I think it needs a proper coat of paint 😉

Hehe, I guess they have an agreement to leave it alone. It lies a bit outside. I’ve been given a quick tour of the hostel once, every room is painted differently by a different artist (I’ve only seen a few.) Prison or no prison, nowadays it’s far from bleak. And we’ve been told that as it was just about ready to be opened, the main architect found the perfect peace of wood for the staircase handrail in the forest.

Wow – that sounds interesting.

And no matter how zen ‘peace of wood’ might sound, I meant piece. 😀

What a lovely collection of doors, each a sort of invitation to some other world. So much color and creativity. I especially like the idea of the former military prison remade as a place for travelers to rest, like the ‘hostile’ has become the ‘hostel.’ Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, Pilgrim, or is it Burrito? 😉 And welcome! I love the transition from ‘hostile’ to ‘hostel’. They should turn it into an official slogan!

“Wow” was my first reaction, too, and then that it could be difficult to find the door/s in some of these places. 🙂 I think the first/last is my favorite as well. I like the very different art used there.

Thanks, Janet. Oh yes, everything goes here. I admit – on one photo I don’t think there are any doors at all, it has sneaked in. 😀

Not to belabor what the others have said but: Wow!
Total sensory overload. There is so much happening in these it’s hard to absorb it all at first glance.
I do love what they did with the pictures frames in that first one.
A great way to brighten up a gray day 🙂

Thanks, Norm, always welcome when in need of colours. Oh, important note: today Jean taught me how to say Thursday Doors in Irish, and I taught her Slovenian version. Please check comments under her Thursday Doors.

The first is very artful and I also like the sixth with the argyle pattern (spelling?) -its a square tilted to one of its corners. But sooo busy – it they only would do the door, it would at least have a focus, lol!
Funky post, Manja:):)

Wow! Those are amazing! I love all the color and texture. My eyes couldn’t rest at all, but it was worth it. Some of them make me think of quilts or knitted/crochet blankets. Really great collection today! 🙂

Interesting thought of the quilts, Joey. It’s true, in this condensed way it’s all a bit brain-damaging. When you visit, there is the sky where the eye can rest. Thank you!
