Again some Roma’s doors at night. Add your own colours, texture and focus.
The night before last Christmas I had a brilliant idea to take some photos of doors at night. We were strolling along Viale di Trastevere in Rome on our way back from dinner and they were just there.
Since your reactions to the first part (which is here) were not all bad, here is the second. Some photos were saved from total obscurity in post production. Still, what they lack in quality, they make up for in atmosphere.

I really like the first image of the arched gate. I think that’s an excellent photo (and I really like the gate). Nice job with these, they convey a sense of quiet viewing.

You got some good shots under difficult light here.
If you tell me no tripod then I’ll say you have the steady hand of a surgeon because there is very little visible camera shake. There is something special about the mood/atmosphere in that first shot. Night shots are both frustratingly hard to get right, and lots of fun when they are good.

Ahh, thanks, Norm! Of course no tripod, I have never even seen one from up close! Don’t know about steady hands… I know that when I was smoking, they were shaking terribly, but now (after 10 years of no smoking) this has really fixed. I think it’s just a good camera shaking-wise, that’s all. Anyway, I’m glad you like them.

Love the plethora of doors here. My most favorite one is the 3rd to last one. And the screen door (3rd image) is beautiful! Great job Manja, but maybe I should call you Plethora (not!:))

Oh, girl, why would I be in the USA? I’m Slovenian, living in Italy for the past four years. I’ve been to the USA only once, a loooong time ago, only 2 weeks, and only LA and SF. No connections there…

Since this is my 4th country I live in, am not surprised about anything:) You hid that little detail excellent, because your English is perfect!! Oh, and i remember during the election you wrote as if you had to live with the changes here.
Right now (I don’t know if I have the right impression – can’t depend on the news anymore) but I fear for Europe and hope things will go back to where it was – polite and peaceful.Hope it’s not as bad as I think…

Well, I studied English language and literature at University. America has certainly made the world take notice. I believe we indeed live in a global village, we all affect each other, and whatever it is we’re in, we’re in it together. And it’s not looking good.

I too am impressed with how steady your photos are considering you took them hand-held!! There is a different, softer atmosphere to night photos. I’m still rather intimidated by night photography. Unlike your’s, my results are not worthy of sharing.
My favourite is the 5th photo – I love the way street lights illuminate surrounding trees and this photo captures that atmosphere very nicely.
