“Čuj ti, v Mariboru si!” (Hey you, you are in Maribor!)

A speedy look at some Maribor doors. Second biggest Slovenian city. Father’s birthplace where he is pointing (point at the door, it’s Thursday!). National soccer champion, one step away from the Champions League. Nuff said.

How is it possible that I associate Slovenian cities you mention only with the Ski cup? I need to delve into Slovenia more…

I hope the weather is better there: here, after two days of relative relief, the heat has come back with full force. Sighhhh…

    1. Ohh, Sara, you’re quite right, Maribor has been the location of Golden Fox female ski races at Pohorje mountain where Tina Maze liked to ski and win, but I hear that it’s out of the schedule for the next season. I wonder why. Plus, Slovenia has Kranjska Gora, for men’s races. 🙂 Just today it got extremely humid, we shall see.

  4. Yesterday, Slovenia made history when one of their riders won a stage of the Tour de France! 🙂 I like the courtyard view and door.

    1. Oh yes, Janet, we were all watching. 😀 History indeed! And another Slovenian cyclist, Jan Polanc, won the Etna stage this year at Giro d’Italia!

These are all great doors and photos, but I really like the narrow wooden door, with the narrow window/shutter to its right.

Lovely, as always! Father’s birthplace is rather appealing, thanks for taking us there…

    1. Thank you, Vicky. I asked him why he never showed it to me before seeing that I was in Maribor with my grandmother often and most gladly. He said that it was not really something to boast about. Except to a photographer.

Yes, at least now you can appreciate it’s beauty, maybe before the camera world, you might not have been so enthusiastic! I regret I found photography so late, so many missed family opportunities!

Oh wow, such a beautiful place! I love courtyards. I envy the big entry and courtyards of so many other dwellers. Ever so charming and practical. Narrow shutters and doors got me like whoa. Great stuff!

    1. Thank you, Joey. I have a feeling that these photos show the city in a fully other light, one I had never seen before.

Must have been a meaningful moment for your father to show his birth place! The Mediterranean feeling jumps off the screen – I love it:)

    1. Thank you, Jesh. Interesting, since it’s more middle-European. The sea is quite far away (two and a half hours, to be exact).

Guess I have gone over to distances here … Used to live in Southern California, which is 7 hours drive away from Sacramento (“close” – which is a 1/2 hrs. West from where I live). Sacramento is about 3 1/2 hours from the North border of the state.
So, am talking about more then ten hours in the same state. 2 1/2 hours is “close” in my world:):)

      2. Oh yes, I see what you mean. Slovenia, on the other hand, is a country where you have every kind of landscape (except a desert, for now) within a couple of hours: the Adriatic sea, the Alps and the Alpine lakes, the Pannonian plain, the Karst and its caves, wine-growing hills and a few bigger cities.

  11. LOL! “Come on here’s the street, and there are doors!” I can almost hear your Father saying. 🙂

Yes, definitely wanting to smack someone for marring those beautiful walls, thankfully they spared the doors!

    It’s very pretty there.

That teal courtyard one was my fave. It’s a shame about the graffiti on that brown wooden garage door but it sure looks like a nice place 🙂
