Today’s doors from the south of Slovenia come with a lunch and a view.

I remember well when my friend Aleš – who together with his Mihela, one of my two best university buddies, became a parent half a year ago – posted the door of his family tourist farm on Facebook. I promised him to come and take a photo of it.

Then he posted trout.

Then he posted the prettiest table with the view, and that’s when I booked: Tourist farm “Magovac”, Sunday lunch, 5 to 6 persons and one dog.

The location (Dolenjska region south of Ljubljana), the atmosphere, the food, and last but not least, the doors – I think we have the venue for our Thursday Doors conference.

The name of the village and the river is the same – Krka. Its two sources are nearby – we had a look and I’ll post photos from there one day. It’s teeming with trout and the last time I was swimming in it years ago, it was good enough to drink.

Many doors were right there, attached to the house, and some I found when I had a stroll around. Welcome!

“In 1907, this homestead housed a beekeepers’ assembly.” No reason why it couldn’t a door-lovers’ one as well.

Great meal: crispy trout, cauliflower, “štruklji” – ricotta & dough rolls, potatoes, salad + strudel and panna cotta. Plus a 4-wine wine.
