Thursday Doors, Sept. 14 2017 – guest host

This week I’m stepping in for Norm as the host of our regular Thursday Doors challenge. Door lovers of the world, welcome!

Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Feel free to join in on the fun by creating your own Thursday Doors post each week and then sharing it, between Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time), by using the blue link-up button below.

First, thank you, Liz, for the following gif. I see that you know how it feels to be a door lover. 😀

While Norm is away, the cats will play! I’m honoured to be chosen as a substitute host together with Joey, who hosted two weeks ago when Slovenia won its first Eurobasket game and I celebrated it, and Joey, with flowery doors; and Dan, who hosted last week after Slovenia won all its five games and I went all-green with my doors too. Guess what: Slovenia is still undefeated and is playing the semi-finals tonight against the (also undefeated) reigning champ Spain!

In the meantime, here is my invitation to join our door party. I know you’ve got a door photo, or 20, to show. And don’t forget: this time you add the link to your door post by clicking on my blue frog right here.

Want to join in on the fun and share your own Thursday Doors post with other door lovers? Click on the blue button below to add the link to your Thursday Doors post to our link-up list.

Don’t forget that if you share your blog posts on Twitter and Instagram, use the #ThursdayDoors hashtag to help others find you, and please do take a few minutes to visit some of the Thursday Door posts shared by others.

And now, since I’m not big on selfies, reflective surfaces such as doors are a good way to catch a glimpse of me, another person or dog, or just the town or a sunset. I know that one regular Thursday Door blogger invented the word for it but I don’t remember who it was. Here are my twenty doorfies then.

Next week I’m pretty certain we meet back at Norm’s, and 3 out of 4 possible outcomes involve a medal.

Sure wish I had the new ‘tropical affair’ to share, but our latest (third attempt) to revisit Costa Rica was yet again destroyed by a hurricane event. I do have some evacuvacation adventures I will be sharing though so hang on. 😉

Thanks for hosting today. I love the GIF, and since I also love doors and reflections, your doors today are making me smile. I particularly like the old worn wooden door that is open. That might be the best photo of an open door I’ve seen. Good job Manja!

    1. Ah, thanks, Dan, I’m glad to make you smile! 🙂 That door belongs to the castle with an excellent view that I will show in a coming post. (I know I promised you the waterfall too. Coming, slowly but surely.)

You are an excellent guest host, and as usual you offer an interesting selection of doors with the added bonus of the *selfies*. I love that expression *doorfie* 😀
My favourites are the reflection in the car window (wow!) and the door near the beginning with the backward *S* stylized in the door window. Normally backward letters offend my OCD, but it really works here. I love it.

    1. Ahh, thank you, Joanne, you’re very kind. True, that S is backward but it doesn’t matter. 🙂

Manja, I came back to link to the little blue frog and just noticed that WP has dropped me from following your blog. The horror!! That explains why I haven’t seen anything from you for a while.
I’m clicking the *follow* button again. I’m back!! 🙂

      2. Wow, that ugly WP!! Well, I haven’t been posting that much in the summer and especially visiting other blogs but I’m still here and would be sorry to lose you! I’m glad you noticed and are back.

I’m glad I noticed – only because I got to your post via Norm, and then noticed your post wasn’t in my mailbox.
        WP takes strange liberties sometimes!

The door venue that also hosts weddings? My favorite. Wonderful doorfies and reflections!

    1. Thanks, Joey, and you’re welcome. 🙂 Maybe you’d reconsider this venue when you see the tent in which they hold weddings, perched on the rock, and hear that the week prior to our visit the strong wind TOOK IT WITH IT! Talking about wedding symbolism. 😀

Such a delightful post, Manja! With all the special touches – like the S-door, and your mom’s shadow, and the reflection in the Citroen is a stunning capture! Wow, that’s a long time ago I saw a Citroen. Wen we married, hubby had an what we call in Dutch “an Ugly Duckling.” (a Citoren) that we regularly had to push across an intersection:):). Thanks for hosting this week, Friend!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Thank you, Jesh! 🙂 I’m glad you enjoy the little touches, and especially that the sight of Citroen brings you good memories. I used to visit Citroen owners’ meetings and even sang Janis Joplin on one of them! 😮 (Youth = crazy)

  15. Hi Manja, sorry I haven’t been keeping up with everyone’s posts for awhile; vacations and then post processing photos and then going on other shooting adventures have a way of usurping time. Congrats for being Norm III for the TD posts and you did an outstanding job! I loved your perspectives (selfies) on the doors and couldn’t select a favorite because they were all great! I’ll have to check out your past archives when time permits to see what I missed. 🙂

    1. Oh, Gordon, no problem, I was more or less the same, travelling, chilling with family and not following blogs! But I plan to catch up. Thank you so much and always welcome to come around. And it’s always my goal to make it hard to pick favourites. 😉

    Enjoyed EVERY SINGLE Photo!!
Great idea for a theme and I never heard of doorfie and love the new term!
The post of doors here had such interesting Dorfies and reflections – but also tasty swirls and stones and misc details.
And I know we never have to pick a favorite door – and sometimes cannot – but I do have one here.
The white doors with heart and sunset word (if u say so) and reflection – went back to it thrice –
Wishing u a happy Thursday and wishing your team luck 😉

  21. What a lovely post, Manja! Love the tempting text and then… The Doorfies! 😁 The car reflection is like a Salvador Dali painting (and that’s a compliment!)

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Ahh, thanks, SMSW! I think Dali would protest at this comparison. 😀 I remember a long time ago seeing this word, dorfie, in a Thursday Doors post and I promised to the author that sooner or later I’d do a post full of them, but now I don’t remember who that was! 😮
