Final Ljubljana report

This is how I spent the second part of my Slovenia vacations.

I’ve showed you how day 1 was won, some doors, windows and wall scribbles from day 2, how I spent the first week with family and friends waiting for the sun, and all doors of one Saturday.

Here are the last few days as my camera saw them. They were colourful, contrasting, cultural and culinary. And in the end we gave each other gifts and said goodbye until the next year when all will be better, and we won’t even notice it, as usual. If for no other reason, because we are still around.

No no no, no panic. Just regular maintenance on maternity ward.

This is home though. The view of all my life until five years ago.

I know because he will be five in April.

An antique that appeared in at least one music video. I don’t know where we got it. It’s not the one father used for typing his articles, the sound of which lulled me to sleep.

After a week of missing the sun I found it in an unlikely place: upon exiting a shop in the BTC shopping city. Where the sky is the best thing. And it’s free.

This is the weirdest plant I’ve seen. Any ideas? Are they kept warm for winter with sweaters??

Not all were in best health in the family. Sis requested cabbage.

Whereas this is an Argentinian restaurant. No mistake there.

No, it does not say “Not Worse” but rather “Hot Horse”. Unlike in “hot dog”, the “horse” is not in the name only for the hack of it.

Its neighbour provided tea and coffee, and I love this image so much that I made it the header photo of my next blog. Details below the gallery.

From one extreme to the other. After shopping: alternative Metelkova city through the city centre. Ljubljana has no really tall buildings. Car plate modified by me.

Celica hostel in the former Metelkova prison. There are still bars on the room windows. Upon entering first you face the choice of Oriental-style tea room (in the photo), or a western-style bar. We sat in the corridor between the two.

There is word that the city intends to sell the hostel. The note says “Celica cannot be sold.” And on the outside wall there is a pretty ugly scribble: “Unsafe investment.”

In Metelkova’s Klub Gromka my poet friend was reading his poetry as part of the IGNOR event. His second book of poems is out now.

The day before we visited him and his wife Lidija, who writes wicked prose and poems, and daughter who likes bestia. This painting graces their stairwell. The artist is Svetlana Jakimovska Rodić.

This bag combines both extremes: bought in BTC, adorned in Metelkova. I like that.
