Thursday Doors, November 17

Whereas my first Volterra door post was all about one street opposite the prison, today I wish to show you some other doors in this scenic town, of various churches and of the library. On top of one of them we even discovered uncle.

And instead of my uncle you can picture Alan Rickman here. I’ve just learnt that he adored this town and the entire region and had a house less than an hour from me. Further investigation will be required.

    1. Susanne, I feel I could be doing a town a day and never finish. 🙂 Portals abound. Alas, I’m taking it slooooolwly and with gusto.

  2. Alan Rickman was such a wonderful actor and I can see why he liked this town. All the doors are great, but I think the blue one is my favorite. The zebra lines are interesting and look a bit odd with everything else.

    1. Thank you, Janet. He was indeed. I find the lines quite modern, in a way.

OMG!!!! So much history and beauty!!! The second building with the green shutters…sigh…
And #8!!!!! That’s it, I’m getting on a plane NOW and heading straight there. I’m going to knock on that door and tell the people who live there that they have to get out because I am moving in 😀
Well, maybe not, but you get my meaning right?
    Wonderful shots as always.

I love the large wooden doors. I’m trying to imagine working on those. The gate at the driveway is amazing.

    1. Thanks, Dan. I feel door-spoilt so much, as often around here.

Wow, a gate like that would be hard to climb since it’s twice the man’s height! Beautiful designs of wood- and glass work! You received some witty reactions:):)

    1. Thanks, Jesh. They are rather on the stylish side around here, yes. 😀 Do you mean from readers or from uncle?

Withe “the reactions” I meant these from the ones who commented on your post (if that was what you were referring to with your question?)

      2. Yes, that’s why I meant, thank you for confirming.

  11. Fabulous collection of doors, Manja. I love the black and white brickwork on one of those buildings, very unusual.

    1. Thank you, Jean! Not an expert at all, but I can see this pattern all over, mostly on cathedrals, but also on our local school, for example, either black and white or red and white, possibly other colours as well.

      1. I’ve seen red and white on someone’s Thursday Doors a while ago, maybe it was yours, Manja.

      2. I had a quick stroll back but couldn’t find it. Maybe it wasn’t me, even though it sounds familiar. Could be we both saw it somewhere else. 🙂
